Happy New Year - Our First Writing Prompt of 2021
We made it. 2020 is behind us. Memories we never imagined having were conceived. Have you taken the time to write any of them down? I’m sure there are a few things you won’t want to forget. Pull out your journal. While you’re thinking about which memory to write for your future self, I’ve prepared a writing prompt to get you started.
Write a journal entry that your lead character would have written about an important event in their childhood.
Here’s the twist - this entry was written the evening or morning after the event, so use your character’s child voice when writing it. Major events that come to my mind are, birthdays, birth of a sibling, an accident, holidays, parents divorce, parents remarry, sickness, or natural disasters. Hah, failing a test could be considered a major event for a child.
Have fun. Feel free to share your character’s entry. And, don’t forget to write a 2020 memory for yourself.
Ciao for now.
