Lit Fridays! Weekly Inspirational Prompt
Happy Friday! It’s time to get those creative thoughts brewing.
It is May, the fifth month of this new decade. At this point, at no choice of our own, we have been home for over two months. Vacations cancelled, theater tickets on hold, weddings postponed or streamed on Zoom, graduations lack their usual pomp and circumstance, and you’ve read every book on your list. What’s left to do while we wait for the world to reopen?
Be creative!
Tap into gifts you never realized you had or never had the time to nurture. Write a book, compose music, write lyrics, paint a picture, take a photo, record yourself performing a monologue, one of your favorites or write your own. Whatever it is, just do it! Let your creativity take you away. Let it sweep you far away from your remote work calls, your four walls, home-schooling and anything else you weren’t doing 24/7 two months ago.
Where do I begin you ask?
Here is this week’s prompt. Take an imaginary trip to an island. It can be one you’ve been to before or one you’ve always dreamed of. Think about some of the following things:
How are you getting there?
Are you going alone? If not, who will join you?
What does it look like? Smell like? Consider the five senses.
What color is the water?
Most importantly, what will you do while you’re there?
Take 15-30 minutes and let your imagination soar.
Happy creating!
